Frequently Asked Questions
When should I book my newborn session?
Booking your baby's newborn session in advance is highly recommended. While I do my best not to turn away newborn sessions, some weeks and months my schedule becomes fully booked. Reserving your session ahead of time guarantees your spot on my calendar.
How far in advance should I schedule milestone session?
I'm fairly certain my booking site allows you to reserve a spot up to two days in advance, if there is availability. However, booking at least two weeks ahead gives me time to purchase or order any items needed for a themed milestone session.
What happens if my baby is early or late? Can we reschedule?
When you book a newborn session with me, you're simply reserving a spot based on your baby's due date. We won’t schedule the actual date and time until after your baby arrives, so there’s no need to worry if they come early or late. I keep certain days open each week specifically for newborn appointments.
Do you offer weekend or evening sessions?
For baby sessions—from newborn through one year—I schedule these Monday through Friday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. I usually have at least one Saturday available each month as well.
Family sessions are typically done outdoors about an hour before sunset. These are mostly scheduled Monday through Friday, with one or two Saturdays available each month.
How old should my baby be for a newborn session?
I generally aim to schedule newborn sessions between days 7 and 15. However, I have photographed many older newborns as well.
What if my baby is older than 2 weeks, can I still get newborn photos?
Yes, absolutely! While the ideal window for newborn photos is within the first two weeks, I’ve successfully photographed many babies who are older than that. Older babies may or may not enjoy being wrapped, and that’s perfectly okay. If wrapping isn’t comfortable for them, we’ll use a cute outfit or two and pose them accordingly. You can still get beautiful, meaningful newborn photos beyond the two-week mark.
What if my baby is fussy or doesn’t sleep?
Don’t worry, this is completely normal, and I plan for it! My newborn sessions are baby-led and flexible, with plenty of time built in for feeding, soothing, and snuggles. Whether your baby is wide awake or needs extra comfort, we’ll move at their pace to capture beautiful, natural moments either way. Your baby is never “too fussy” for my studio. 💛
How long does a newborn session last?
Our one color mini lasts approximately 30 minutes
Other Newborn session options typically last between 1 to 2 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, soothing, and breaks as needed. I work at your baby’s pace to ensure a calm, relaxed experience for everyone—no rushing, just gentle moments captured as they happen.
Do you provide props, wraps, or outfits?
Yes, we have a studio filled with props, wraps, accessories, and outfits in a wide variety of colors. If we don’t have the color you request and your session is booked at least 2-4 weeks in advance, we will order an item in your desired color.
Can I bring my own special item or heirloom?
Yes, please do! I love incorporating meaningful items like heirloom blankets, a special stuffed animal, or a family keepsake into your session. These personal touches help tell your family’s unique story and make your images even more special. Just let me know ahead of time so I can plan the setup accordingly.
Where is your studio located?
My studio is located at 201 W. Market St in Christopher Il
How long does it take to get my photos?
You will receive a sneak peek within 2 to 3 days of your session, and your full gallery will be delivered two weeks after your session date.
Do you require a retainer to book?
Yes, all sessions require a $50 retainer to reserve your spot, except for Grow With Me baby bundles, which require a $100 deposit. The retainer will be applied toward your total session cost.
